Ruben Ochoa's Collapsed at Peter Blum
While gallery-hopping in Soho one evening a few weeks ago, we spotted this installation by artist Ruben Ochoa at Peter Blum. Amidst all the closed retail spaces and dark store windows, it was jarring to see this brightly-lit mound of dirt. The placement towards the back of the gallery created spatial depth that added to the sense of weight. Every time I look at it, it makes my shoulders feel heavier.
